OCD & Anxiety Therapy in Portsmouth, New Hampshire
Specialist OCD Treatment in the NH Seacoast — One of the Few ERP Providers in the Region
Finding a qualified OCD or anxiety specialist in New Hampshire can be genuinely difficult. Effective OCD treatment — particularly Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — requires specific training that many therapists simply don't have. At the Seaside Center for OCD and Anxiety, we bring that specialized expertise to Portsmouth and the broader NH Seacoast area.
Led by Dr. Jill Stoddard, PhD — a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly 20 years of specialty experience — our Portsmouth office provides the same evidence-based, research-backed treatment available at our San Diego location. Whether you're dealing with OCD, anxiety, Pure O, panic, or related conditions, you don't have to settle for a generalist.
We offer in-person appointments in Portsmouth and telehealth for clients throughout New Hampshire and most other U.S. states via PsyPACT.

Our Treatment Approach
Why ERP Expertise Matters — Especially in New Hampshire
ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) is the gold-standard treatment for OCD — and it's not something every therapist is trained to deliver correctly. In New Hampshire, qualified ERP providers are genuinely scarce. The Seaside Center is one of the few practices in the Seacoast area with deep, specialized ERP training. In addition to ERP, we use:
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — building psychological flexibility and values-based living
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — identifying and shifting unhelpful thought patterns
Our approach is active, skills-based, and direct. We don't just help you understand your anxiety — we help you change your relationship with it.
Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT)
PRT is an evidence-based treatment designed to help people reduce or eliminate chronic pain and other physical symptoms (e.g., IBS, CFS) by addressing the way the brain processes and interprets pain signals. Grounded in neuroscience research, PRT teaches clients to understand the difference between pain caused by structural injury and pain maintained by learned neural pathways, fear, and hypervigilance. Treatment often includes education, mindfulness, emotional awareness, and behavioral strategies that help retrain the brain to respond differently to pain sensations. Like ACT and CBT, PRT emphasizes a warm, safe, and empathic therapeutic environment while helping clients develop skills to reduce fear, increase functioning, and re-engage in meaningful life activities.
Meet Our Founder
Dr. Jill Stoddard, PhD — Founder & Lead Clinician
Dr. Stoddard is a licensed clinical psychologist who has specialized in OCD and anxiety treatment for nearly two decades. She holds licenses in both California and New Hampshire, and is a PsyPACT participant — meaning she can see clients via telehealth in most U.S. states.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Stoddard is a published author (Be Mighty; The Big Book of ACT Metaphors), a TEDx speaker, and a podcaster whose work has been featured in major publications including The Washington Post and The New York Times. She brings that same depth of knowledge to every session with every client.
Telehealth & PsyPACT
Serving All of New Hampshire — and Most of the U.S. — Via Telehealth
Not everyone can make it to our Portsmouth office in person — and that's okay. We offer telehealth appointments for clients throughout New Hampshire, and Dr. Stoddard's PsyPACT participation means she can see clients in most other U.S. states as well.
Telehealth sessions are conducted over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform and offer the same quality of care as in-person visits
We offer individual therapy in-person in Portsmouth, NH, and via telehealth throughout all other states except LA, MA, HI, NY, AL, OR, NM, and IA.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
OCD treatment — particularly ERP — requires specialized training that goes beyond a general therapy license. Many therapists treat OCD using talk therapy approaches that are not only ineffective for OCD, but can sometimes make it worse. The Seaside Center is one of the few practices in the NH Seacoast region with formal, dedicated training in ERP.
